From NAN

News Americas, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, Weds. Aug. 29, 2018: Vennia Francois, the Caribbean-roots, Republican candidate for Florida’s 7th Congressional district, on Tuesday, August 28th, lost in her bid to become the party’s nominee for the November general election.

Francois, a first-time candidate whose parents immigrated from the Bahamas, managed to secure just 16 percent or 7,230 votes out of the over 43,000 votes cast. Mike Miller emerged the GOP winner with 24,427 and will now face the current Democratic incumbent, Rep. Stephanie Murphy in November.

Francois, an attorney who was born and raised in Florida had said although her family’s journey to America has made her sensitive to issues surrounding immigration, she believes in strict border enforcement.
