Caribbean Chef of the Year, Brian Lumley for Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival, New York

NEW YORK – QUEENS, NY,– Still high celebrating his recent win as ‘Caribbean Chef of the Year’ at the prestigious Taste of the Caribbean 2013 Culinary showcase in Florida, Chef Brian Lumley will be showing his culinary prowess in the Jerk Cook-off Pavilion at the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival on Sunday, July 21, at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York.

Chef Lumley has been making his mark on the regional culinary landscape over recent years. In 2008 Chef Lumley was commissioned by the Embassy of France to fill the position of Personal chef to the French Ambassador, a role he considers to have greatly contributed to his professional proficiency. He is the reigning Jamaican Chef of the Year and continues to represent his island well, as a culinary ambassador of Jamaica, showcasing the best of its local cuisine.

Chef Irie Spice 2012Florida’s popular Chef Irie Spice will also be stirring things up with his innovative jerk recipes and engaging personality for the myriad patrons who will flock to the Jerk Cook-off Pavilion to watch these demonstrations and sample the mouthwatering fare. Adding to the activity in the Jerk Cook-off Pavilion will be Grace Foods’ Chef Mazie Miller, movie star Leon of the movie Cool Runnings, ‘Best Jerk Competition’ and a Celebrity ‘Quick Fire Contest’.

“Patrons should come by the Jerk Cook-off Pavilion to watch these chefs at work, sample their creations and meet and greet celebrities” states June Minto, coordinator of the Festival’s Jerk Cook-off Pavilion. “The competitions will be fiery and the cooking will be fantastic, not to mention the giveaways,” added Minto.

The Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival NY, is the center of Caribbean culture — delivering on everything from delectable jerk foods and cultural presentations to high-energy entertainment and activities for the kids.
