Ollie A. Johnson III is Chair and Professor in the Department of African American Studies at Wayne State University. Professor Johnson is co-editor of three books, Comparative Racial Politics in Latin America (2019), Race, Politics, and Education in Brazil: Affirmative Action in Higher Education (2015) and Black Political Organizations in the Post-Civil Rights Era (2002). Author of Brazilian Party Politics and the Coup of 1964 (2001) as well as numerous book chapters and journal articles, Johnson received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley. His current research focuses on African American, Afro-Brazilian, and Afro-Latin American Politics.

The impact of the critical midterm elections on the State of Black America and the Pan African World will be the subject of a post-election National Town Hall Meeting, convened by the Institute of the Black World 21 st Century, Thursday, November 10th, 7:00 PM, Cramton Auditorium at Howard University, 2455 6th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.

Speakers include Marc Morial, Dr. Julianne Malveaux, Roland Martin, Tamika Mallory, Melanie Campbell, Howard University alum Maurice Mitchell, the legendary Dr. Greg Carr, Pastor Michael McBride, Mel Foote and Dr. E. Faye Williams. That’s Thursday, November 10th, Cramton Auditorium, Howard University. Free and Open to the Public. Doors Open at 6:00 PM.
