Because He lives …..Amen!

Because He lives …..Amen!
(An Easter Celebration of Praise, arranged by David Wise (WORD MUSIC)

Savannah United Church was filled with music and joy on Sunday as the Easter Cantata was presented. The Cantata led us through the shouts of Hosanna, the passion and the powerful resurrection. It culminated with the glorious hope of the redeemed around the Throne.

According to Noel Wallace, the Music Director, “This dynamically blended musical draws from Dove award winning worship songs and hymn classics to fit the intergenerational worship. It is fitting that we have an array of our own talents from all age groups participating. We celebrate “Because He lives….Amen!”

Miss Renita Barnes who was selected by the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands to participate in the Council for World Mission – Training in Mission programme for 2017 was commissioned before the Cantata started. She will spend 7 months training in New Zealand, Kiribati, Fiji and Taiwan.

Over 300 people filled the church and all thoroughly enjoyed every minute of music, singing, and narration. A cast of over 75 included the Sanctuary Choir, the boys and girls of the Young Voices in Praise and the Young Instruments in Praise, the Men’s Quintet, the soloists, dancers, narrators, dance directors, the musicians, technicians, those who made the new backdrop and Cross, and the “stagehands” who kept everything flowing. It was obvious that many weeks of preparation went into this wonderful Cantata.

Special recognition goes to Kimia Hemmings, Director of the Young Voices in Praise Choir and, of course, to Noel Wallace who not only directed the choir but also trained the young musicians and rehearsed many times per week with the different groups involved.

We look forward to their Christmas Cantata.
