Batabano was a colourful spectacle

IMG_0715The 30th Annual Cayman Islands Batabano Parade of masqueraders, floats and costumed individuals took to Grand Cayman’s streets last Saturday (4).

It was an enjoyable kaleidoscope of music, dance and pageantry and it passed by me where I was standing around 4pm on the West Bay Road near KFC.

As the Parade started from Governor’s Way in the hot sun some of the Stilt Walkers, Acrobats, Limbo Dancers and Paraders looked definitely tired as they walked and danced pass me.

I have to say I didn’t appreciate some of the vulgar dancing and one elderly gentleman looked decidedly uncomfortable when two scantily clothed beautiful young ladies sandwiched him between them whilst they gyrated to the music coming from one of the floats.

I was worried he was going to have a heart attack.

The parade ended at Fort Street in George Town where beverages were on sale.

Following the parade activities, the party continued on the streets with live music by local artists and visiting entertainers until midnight.

It was FUN! FUN! FUN!TOP PICIMG_0730webtop
