ASI-Cayman raises $1,000 for Hope for Today Foundation

HomepageASi-Cayman (Adventist Laymen’s Services and Industries), a not-for-profit organization, hosted a 5k run on Sept. 22 to help out halfway homes that currently house seven male and two female residents.

The Hope for Today Foundation received $1,000 towards its homes that help recovering drug addicts.

“We believe that Hope for Today halfway residents, by committing to being there, are demonstrating their quest in seeking a better way of life and a worthwhile future,” said ASi Chairman Annie K. Price.

“With the support of the community, they can know that we are all behind them in encouraging them to push forward with determination, courage and strength to once again enjoy family life and become productive members of this society,” she added.

The Foundation has two half way homes in West Bay that may have to close their doors if it doesn’t get aid it previously received through the controversial Nation Building Fund.

In a recent interview on CITN/Cayman27 Brent Hydes of the Foundation said, “If a programme like this were to shut down, what we would end up with is 10 men residents that are here right now that have no where to go that is safe and structured so we’re looking at 10 potential criminals that would be released.”

On September 19, 2013 iNews Cayman published a story, “From a recovering Caymanian ex-addict” written by one of the residents at one of the West Bay homes, Edward Pars. If you haven’t read it I urge you to do so. You can find it at: http://www.ieyenews.com/2013/09/from-a-recovering-caymanian-ex-addict/
