Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is promising to consider a proposal from Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne to set up a less burdensome and time-consuming arrangement for Antiguans and Barbudans to obtain Canadian visa.

Sir Ronald Sanders, Antigua and Barbuda’s non-resident , presented the letter on behalf of Prime Minister Browne earlier this week when the Canadian Prime Minister received him in the capacity as this country’s non resident ambassador.

During the meeting, Sir Ronald and the Canadian prime minister discussed a number of matters of mutual interest, including the effects of  and global warming. Prime Minister Trudeau assured Sir Ronald of the Canadian government’s commitment to working with Caribbean countries on combatting this major global challenge.

According to a press release from the Antigua and Barbuda government, the two countries “took a further step in strengthening relations.”

Noting that Canada and Antigua and Barbuda have a long history of friendship and cooperation at both the bilateral and international levels, the release further stated that Prime Minister Trudeau and High Commissioner Sanders agreed that the traditional close relations between the countries is a strong basis for exploring new ways of cooperation.
