Cayman: Minister Bryan speaks on Tourism Infrastructure Development at CARIF

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (20 September 2022) – Hon. Kenneth Bryan is speaking at the 6th Caribbean Infrastructure Forum (CARIF), which is being held in Miami, Florida from 19th -20th  September, 2022.

On the first day of the conference, Minister Bryan participated in a panel discussion entitled ‘The Tourism Bounceback, and How it is Driving Infrastructure Development.’ The discussion looked at trends in tourism post-COVID, and how stayover visitation across the region is being impacted. The panel also explored how changing visitor expectations and demands might be influencing tourism infrastructure development.  Minister Bryan was joined on the panel by Hon. Lisa Cummins, Minister for Tourism and International Transport, Barbados.

“It is important to have a presence at these forums to relay to investors, financiers and other attendees that the Cayman Islands is open for business and open to dialogue that could potentially lead to more purpose built Infrastructure to support the growth of our tourism industry, explained Minister Bryan.

‘With that said, I remain mindful that all future development has to create opportunities for our people, and this important point was a part of my panel discussion, which looked at ways of ensuring that the benefits of tourism driven Infrastructure are not limited just to tourists.”

CARIF brings together more than 250 leaders from 30 countries to shape the future of infrastructure and capital projects for the Caribbean. CIBC FirstCaribbean and KPMG have returned to CARIF as Title Sponsors and bring a wealth of infrastructure advisory experience, as well as a track-record of regional transactions spanning decades.

As noted on the conference website, post-pandemic, there is a new urgency around the need to finance and build economy-boosting, resilient infrastructure which can weather any storm – whether climate, economic or health. Consequently CARIF 2022 is provides a forum for public and private sector leaders to explore the need, the opportunity and the financial price tag.

Minister Bryan is joined by his senior tourism officials, Chief Officer Stran Bodden and Director of Tourism Rosa Harris.
