A man who was assaulted in the Windsor Park area last week is now in a critical condition. Police have one man in custody in connection with the incident.

About 3.30am on Thursday, 21 June 2012, police received a report that a 34-year-old man had been admitted to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town suffering from a serious stab wound to his neck.

Enquiries revealed that the victim had sustained the injury while attending a gathering in Hawkins Drive, Windsor Park. The incident is believed to have a occurred around 3.15 am.  It is suggested that approximately 50 (fifty) people were at the gathering.

The victim remains within the Cayman Islands Hospital and his condition is now described as critical.

Yesterday evening (Monday 25 June),  a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a police operation in the Windsor Park area. He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police are once again appealing for anyone who was at the  gathering in Windsor Park in the early hours of Thursday morning to contact them. The officer in charge of the enquiry, Detective Inspector Joseph Wright, is disappointed that despite the number of people who were at the gathering no-one has yet come forward in response to that appeal.

However, officers have been conducting extensive door – to – door enquiries in the area and would ask anyone who has not yet been spoken to by the police to contact them on the following numbers  – George Town CID 949-4222, the RCIPS tip-line 949-7777 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477(TIPS).
