OPINION: ‘Aunty Maud say he Fraud Lord’

By Nathan ‘Jolly’ Green, early March, 2020

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines United Liars Party ULP.

I the year 2001, he told the countries working people if they voted him and the ULP party into power, every one of them would get an immediate 30% wage increase. That was among the first of the fraudulent statements. It never happened; it never happened. It never happened.

He told us that he was bringing us an education revolution. That turned out to be a World Bank scheme that was offered to every Caribbean country and many other countries in the World. Only he repackaged it and pretended he was bringing us a revolution. It was all rubbish.

The NDP put forward a scheme to give the children computers; he ran with it and pretended it was his idea.

He told the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines that he was going to build a new international airport at Argyle. We were told it would cost us nothing because there were many friendly countries which had formed what he called a coalition of the willing.

Willing to pay, willing to pay for the trucks, machinery, and equipment. Ready to supply all the cement, to provide all the blacktop products, too, supply everything including workers and experts. We were told that the Venezuelan government would pay the wages of the supposed airport builder workmen and specialists as long as they were Cuban, they did not, SVG paid those wages, multi-millions of dollars. They promised to pay for all the plant and equipment. They bought us about 10 million dollars worth of second-hand repainted undersized inadequate equipment. SVG purchased and paid for the rest of the stuff more than $80 million. He told us when the airport was completed, we would have no debts; that was a massive untruth. It turned out there was no coalition of the willing, SVG paid for everything. And we have a debt obligation which will take a hundred years to repay.

He told the people who owned the land at Argyle that when it was acquired for the airport, they would be paid promptly and fairly. There are still sixty landowners who have not been paid; their land is now built on, agricultural income lost, they remain unpaid.

The airport project was a three-year project which took the Cubans nine years to finish.

The whole thing was built on fraudulent statements and promises. So instead of paying the Cubans wages for three years, we paid them for nine years, lucky Cuba, poor little SVG.

He told the people we were most fortunate to have the Cubans build us a new Diagnostic Center at Georgetown. Another three-year project that took the Cubans eleven years to build. SVG just kept on paying through the nose to employ second rate Cubans who were light years behind some of the skills of Vincentians.

We were told the diagnostic center was world-class and the best and most modern in the Caribbean. Partially manned by Cuban doctors and nurses while our people fly kites at Brighton beach and twiddle their thumbs doing crochet for the baby clothes. According to his actions, Vincentians are merely useless and worthless when compared to Cubans, great for Cuba, dreadful for poor little SVG.

But like everything else, there are more cons than pros. The center is built within striking distance of La Soufriere volcano. When it last erupted in 1979, boulders as big as microwave ovens flung high in the air crashed through house roofs in that very area. If there is another eruption, and some say one is due.

A real volcanically preserved person.

Poisonous gasses that will kill those patients may be released, killing them where they lay. Its also possible a heat blast so powerful is carried on a wave of escaping gasses and molten particles of glass that it will turn people instantly to rock.

That happened when the volcano erupted at Pompeii, Italy. People, dogs, cats, horses, goats. All instantly preserved forever.

So perhaps we can look forward or even backward to the folly of building a medical clinic within the danger zone of a volcano.

The local people of Georgetown live there because they choose to do so. The patients are there because they have no choice in the matter.

Now a world-class medical diagnostic center must be able to analyze and report a diagnosis based on symptoms and clinical and laboratory evidence. But not this one, because World class does not currently mean World-class in SVG. This clinic cannot, for instance, diagnose the new CoronaVirus. So why did we overpay the Cubans to build and staff such a facility, that took an eight-year overrun in costs, which every Vincentian paid for? If the patients and staff had to be rescued and evacuated, how would that be possible? Cut off perhaps by lava flows. Cannot flee North towards Sandy Bay because they will have their problems. No escape possible by sea, it’s too rough there for any boat to land. Will they be walking running, carried, or in pushchairs. Rocks and boulders may be falling from the heavens; there will not be any coaches or big busses for them? During the uproar, the Cubans will probably be gone; they are not paid enough to stay.

So what sort of a mess are we in? Well, we are bankrupt. The three hundred million found in the treasury in 2001 is now a debt fast approaching two billion. We lost our National bank several years ago because the same actors borrowed so much money from it; we had the option of selling it or let it be acclaimed broke.

We owe the NIS millions, money that belongs to the people for their pensions when they retire. Unless we are careful, the NIS will go the same way as the bank.

The roads and all infrastructure are falling apart through mismanagement and underfunding. There has been more than one allegation of bad things happening when awarding contracts for building and engineering works.

People do not have work or employment, and unless their relatives send them money each month, they will starve.

Everything they touch flops. Now they are building hotels with government borrowed money in places that will guarantee the funds invested will be lost, as they once more build failures in and on the black sand of the mainland.

The fat flopping flop creator spends time in luxury villas in Mustique and Canouan or travelling the world, poking our noses into other people’s problems instead of concentrating on our own. We have become a nation of scroungers and UN wheeler-dealers in voting with and for rubbish regimes. We are selling our votes to protect human rights violators and thieves of their own people’s assets—nasty murdering scoundrels like Maduro and other such rubbish political leaders.

Now to cap it all, we find that he has merely been playing us all for fools while ignoring or reinventing the meanings of our sacred constitution.

Every political pretence of good carried to the extreme as everything has been for the past eighteen years, must be a product of evil.

It’s time for someone to say “get thou behind us, Satan.”
