5 Outrageous things Australian Senator Jacqui Lambie said out loud

jacquiBy Jenni Ryall From Mashable

SYDNEY — Jacqui Lambie is an interesting character. On first sighting, one isn’t really sure what to make of her.

The tough-as-nails former Australian soldier and single mother of two boys won Tasmania’s sixth and final Senate seat in last year’s election as part of the Palmer United Party.

The Palmer party is headed up by eccentric mining billionaire Clive Palmer, but if you think he speaks his mind, you need to check out Lambie.

From saying on live radio she wants a man who is “well hung” to telling anyone who supports Sharia law to “pack up their bags and get out of here,” Lambie is causing controversy across the country with her inappropriate outbursts.

Here is a look at her most controversial moments since joining the Senate. It will make you remember to always think before you speak.

Lambie‘If you support Sharia law, get out’

Following the increase of the terror alert level to “high” in Australia, Lambie said supporters of Sharia law, an Islamic legal system derived from the Koran and the rulings of Islamic scholars, should get out of Australia.

Extremist groups such as Islamic State use hardline aspects of the law, including stoning and death, to create terror. Yet Sharia law also influences many aspects of Muslim daily life and religious obligation.

“Anybody that supports Sharia Law in Australia should not have the right to vote, should not be given government handouts and should probably pack up their bags and get out of here,” Lambie said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Unless we put our foot down on it now it will only become bigger and more dangerous,” she said.

Lambie requests a ‘well-hung’ guy

Speaking on a local radio show in Hobart, Tasmania, Lambie admits she hasn’t had a relationship for 11 years. She then goes on to say she is looking for love with someone with “heaps of cash, a package between their legs and I don’t need them to speak.”

She then goes on to ask a 22-year-old suitor who calls the radio station if he is “well hung,” before comparing him to her son.

‘You’re all liars!’

Lambie took to Australian panel show Q&A to tell her rival politicians they should stop breaking election promises and start telling the truth to the Australian public.

Okay, this isn’t that outrageous, but it is still a classic moment.

Lambie tells Abbott to ‘toughen up’

After calling Prime Minister Tony Abbott a psychopath on ABC radio, the Tasmanian senator took it a step further and told Abbott he should handle her comments by eating cement.

“You can run and hide,” she said in a morning television interview. “Or you can take a bucket of cement and toughen up.”

Lambie: The Chinese are coming

Poor Lambie, she seemed to be just backing her revered leader, Palmer, and his outrageous comments labelling the Chinese government as “mongrels.”

In a supportive email to the media, she wrote:

If anybody thinks that we should have a national security and defence policy, which ignores the threat of a Chinese communist invasion — you’re delusional and got rocks in your head.

The communist Chinese military capacity and level of threat to the Western world democracies is at an unprecedented and historical high.

They come at a time when Australian military spending and capacity is at historic lows. Today China is controlled by an aggressive, anti-democratic, totalitarian government. We need to double the size and capacity of our military right now.

She then refused to take responsibility for her remarks, just like her boss Palmer. The problem? Palmer later backed away from his comments and issued an apology.
