For the North Atlantic…Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. A large low pressure system centered about 875 miles east-southeast
of Bermuda continues to produce a broad area of disorganized showers
and thunderstorms. This low could acquire some subtropical or
tropical characteristics by Tuesday or Wednesday while it moves
toward the north-northeast over the north-central Atlantic
* Formation chance through 48 hours…low…20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days…medium…40 percent.

Synopsis

 

Moderate east to northeasterly winds and seas will continue across the Cayman area for the next 24 hours in association with a high pressure system over the southeastern US. Additionally, a surface trough across the western Caribbean will support shower activity across our area for the next 24 hours. Radar images show scattered showers in and around the Cayman Islands which are drifting towards the west-southwest.
