2017 Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference focused on “Food for Thought: Exploring the relationship between nutrition and health”

This year’s Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference, which takes place from 19 to 21 October, will focus on nutrition and health under the theme “Food for Thought: Exploring the relationship between nutrition and health”. The conference will cover a range of topics such as food and heart health, diseases triggered by food, fact vs myth about diets and supplements, food and mental health, life after bariatric surgery, nutrition and cancer treatment, and many more.

Hosted at The Ritz-Carlton, , this is the eighth annual Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference. With a record attendance of over one thousand local and overseas delegates in 2016, organisers are looking forward to another successful and educational event.

Hon. , Minister of Health, Environment, Culture and Housing, noted that dietary needs and nutrition play an integral role in our health and well-being.

“The Ministry felt it was appropriate that this year’s theme be centered around the connection between good nutrition and better health in order to educate the community on how they can take control of their own health and wellness.” said.

“By bringing together experts from a variety of fields, we aim to provide healthcare professionals the opportunity to develop their knowledge of nutrition and its implications on health to ultimately create a better experience for their patients. This conference also offers a wealth of knowledge to members of the wider community to educate themselves on ways to utilise food to support the health and wellness of themselves their families and clients. I am pleased to say that once again we can provide a conference with such a high caliber of presenters and educational information without any registration cost to the public”.

, Chair of the conference planning committee and CEO of the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, said the event continues to offer both medical professionals and the general public the opportunity to educate themselves through the various presentations and breakout sessions.

As in previous years, the event will be offered free of cost to attendees, thanks to the support of a wide range of sponsors.
