Premier Alden McLaughlin has almost done a McKeeva Bush and taken on the most ministries and the hot potato – IMMIGRATION! He admits the situation there has not seen any improvement in recent years. How he is going to cope with all the other ones in his portfolio and the leadership of a coalition government is beyond me.

Even with Austin Harris as his Councillor his experience seems only to be in Community Affairs.

The big surprise is Tara Rivers giving up the other hot potato EDUCATION to take on Financial Services and Home Affairs. With no Councillor to assist her.

She has handed over Education to Julianna O’Connor-Connolly who also has to deal with Youth, Sports, Agriculture and Lands. She has David Wight as Councillor for Sports. I expect he will do most of the work there. O’Connor-Connolly was a former teacher so that is probably a wise choice.

The premier said he didn’t find the challenge of utilising the “aptitude and interests of the people named as ministers” as hard as he thought it would be.

We can only wait and see. And perhaps pray a bit too for our Ministers and Councillors.
