Taxman embroiled in dispute over MYOB purchase

Lawyers for the Sage Group have questioned whether the Australian Taxation Office may have a problem with a $1 billion contract to purchase software company MYOB from Archer Capital being executed in the Cayman Islands.
Yesterday the Federal Court in Sydney heard applications from both parties to get access to documents and tax advice in the lead-up to a November hearing, in which Archer Capital will argue that Sage went back on a $1.3bn deal to purchase MYOB.
