Ringing in a New Year at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands

Monthly News: January 2024

Welcome 2024!

As we bid farewell to 2023, we reflect on another dynamic year of promoting the visual arts of the Cayman Islands while providing inclusive programming and spaces for our community. In 2023, we welcomed over 1000 students to the Gallery for free school tours and engaged with over 1600 students at offsite programmes such as classroom presentations, career fairs, library workshops and satellite exhibition tours. 13 exhibitions were mounted across our main exhibition halls and satellite venues including the 3rd Cayman Islands Biennial: Conversations with the Past – In the Present Tense33: Remnants of the Artist81 Degrees WestTangled World and Highlights from the Collection. We made memories of a lifetime while raising essential funds at our annual Tea Party and Gala fundraisers, and brought programming to every district in Cayman.

As a valued Member and Supporter of the National Gallery, you have been an integral part of our achievements over the past year. We thank you, and look forward to continuing the work together in 2024.

A Huge Thank You!: EY Seniors

We extend our sincere appreciation for EY’s steadfast commitment to the success of the NGCI’s Seniors’ Tour and Tea Programme. Their invaluable support plays a pivotal role in addressing the pressing issue of senior isolation in the Cayman Islands. By incorporating art, local culture, and community engagement, the programme aims to enhance the mental well-being of seniors.

The facilitation of these gatherings also would not be possible without the provision of volunteers from EY’s staff. Their commitment to actively participate in the programme showcases a dedicated interest in community involvement. In the spirit of the holiday season, their sponsorship allowed us to wrap up the 2023 programme with the gift of ‘Tour and Tea in a Bag’ art packs which were donated to Meals on Wheels’ Seniors initiative.

We are grateful for EY’s ongoing support and look forward to furthering our shared mission of enriching the lives of senior citizens in the Cayman Islands.
