Hyacinth Rose Jervis laid to rest

A Memorial Service of Celebration and Remembrance in Honour of the late Hyacinth Rose Jervis, who died after illness on Friday 22nd June, was held at Elmslie Memorial United Church, George Town, last Saturday 14th July.

Officiating ministers were Rev Dave Hazle and Pr. John Macmillan. Organist was Mr. Denver Bloomfield.

Tributes to Hyacinth were made by, Carol Braggs (on behalf of the Women’s Fellowhip and Elmslie Memorial Church where Hyacinth was a member), Marie-Jo-Caesar (on behalf of Colonial Life and British Caymanian Insurance Co), and Nancy Whitfield (on behalf of Pink ladies Corp). Her son, Jody, read the remembrances and her grandson, Julian read Psalm 128.

The sermon was given by Rev. Dave and was based on Psalm 121 “A song of ascents”:  “I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord …”

Hymns played at the service were “How Great Thou Art”, “The Lord’s My Shepherd and “I know Not Why God’s Wondrous Grace.”

Pr. John said a prayer for the family.

Hyacinth Rose Jervis (Shirles) was laid to rest peacefully on Thursday June 28th, 2012 at Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, Florida.

Hyacinth is survived by, her husband Ray, sons Jules and Jody, her grandchildren Kimberly, Julian and Jayla, her daughters-in-law Mitzi and Amanda, her sister Angella and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harpist Eugenio Leon played a beautiful rendition of “I’ll Be Seeing You” and “Ave Maria” at the conclusion of the service.

As it says in the Remembrance programme, Hyacinth “will be deeply missed”.
