Cayman Islands new Police Commissioner visits Little Cayman; holds community meeting

Last week, Thursday, 8 December, Commissioner of Police, Derek Byrne, made his first visit to Little Cayman, and met with police officers, the district administration, and the greater community. This visit followed an earlier trip to Cayman Brac in November as part of his general orientation to all three islands and the policing concerns specific to each.

During his trip, CoP Byrne met local officers and business owners, visited the local school, met with Deputy District Commissioner Roger Scott, and held a community meeting which was well-attended by local residents. During that meeting, CoP Byrne heard residents’ concerns about speeding, bikes with no lights at night, and poaching of conch and lobster.

“This has been an extremely informative trip, and I’m grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received,” said CoP Byrne, “The concerns of the Sister Islands are a policing priority and will be given the attention they need right alongside those of Grand Cayman.”
