PS Audio August, 2025 Newsletter
From Scott McGowan From PS Audio

Doggone it! Terri and my favorite time of year is slowly moving away. Summer’s waning and Fall is approaching.
Of course, the good news is that with fall comes nature’s stunning display of riotous colors as the leaves prepare to fall off and the trees ready themselves for the long months of winter.
Fall also brings our friends the bears out in droves. As I fumbled around the kitchen for my first coffee of the morning, I heard a commotion out in our front yard. “What the hell?”
It was nearly pitch black at 4:45 AM, so I couldn’t see much, but there was no mistaking what was going on. I ran to the bedroom, awakened Terri, and grabbed my iPhone. Check out Mrs. bear bathing in our little decorative fountain at the house entrance.
For photo nerds like me, I must say the iPhone’s ability to shoot in nearly no light is extraordinary. This is hand held as the phone’s camera is quietly snapping away a ton of low level shots that somehow get stitched together into one photo. With the help of Photoshop, I got this image.PMG DACs begin shipping! In last month’s newsletter, I shared with you the PMG Signature’s launch of the Preamplifier. It continues to stun:
“I could not tear myself away. I must have spent almost three hours listening. I’ve never heard my system sound this good.”
“…this is the most significant improvement in memory I have experienced. The PMG is better than the BHK virtually across the board with the greatest improvements in the bass (solidity, tunefulness) and soundstage/image specificity and tonal balance low to high.”
And now, I am delighted to announce that we are shipping the long awaited replacement for the DS MKII, the PMG Signature 512 DAC.
As the product’s tagline suggests: Darwin was wrong… not everything is an evolution. Sometimes there are paradigm shifts so monumental that the results are completely singular.
We’ve got quite a few of you with your preorders confirmed and we will be shipping in the order those were placed. I know it’s hard to wait, but I guarantee you it’s worth it.
If you rightly recognized the monumental upgrade in the PMG preamplifier, I can’t wait until you get a taste of what’s in store with the PMG Signature 512 DAC.

Something New (and Personal) from Me (Paul McGowan)
As many of you know, I’ve spent a good part of my life writing about audio, music, and technology. But every so often a passion project comes along that just won’t let go. For me, that’s been Ellie Harper: Lessons and Lies—the first in a brand-new cozy mystery series I’ve written and absolutely loved creating.
It’s a fun read set in Concord, Massachusetts, where Ellie Harper, a retired professor turned bookstore owner, finds herself leading a quirky book club—the Gumshoe Gang—that just happens to be very good at solving murders. With wit, friendship, gossip, and a touch of danger, the group untangles small-town secrets while outpacing the well-meaning but always off-the-mark Detective Hawkins. And of course, there’s Agatha the cat—regal, mischievous, and always ready to steal a scene.
If you like mysteries that keep you guessing while also making you smile, I think you’ll enjoy this one. You’re actually getting a sneak preview: we’re in the middle of producing the audiobook right now, and I’ve hired a brilliant British actress to bring the characters to life.
So, if you’re looking for something entertaining to curl up with, here’s your chance to check out my latest adventure outside the audio world

This book means a lot to me, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it.
