Cayman police vehicle in M/V accident

On Friday 27th June 2014, around 4:34 pm a marked Police Unit responded to a report of a hit and run in the vicinity of Sparky Drive.

While responding to the report the driver of the Police unit observed the vehicle that had fled the scene. The Officer then proceeded to follow the vehicle, which refused to stop in spite of the Police vehicle activating their lights and siren.

In the process of attempting to apprehend the driver, the Police Vehicle ran off the road and into the premises of National Concrete, where it collided with a parked cement truck.

The Police vehicle sustained extensive damages to the front section and the cement truck received minor damages.

The Officer was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, where he was treated and released.
