General Post Office Fumigation Over Holiday Weekend 18-20 May
The Cayman Islands Postal Service wishes to advise the public that the General Post Office in George Town will close over the holiday weekend, 18-20 May, to undergo tenting and fumigation procedures. This proactive measure is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of the historic landmark and ensuring a safe environment for all customers.
Customers are encouraged to clear their post boxes before the evening of Friday, 17 May as access to post boxes will be temporarily restricted until the fumigation process is complete, To facilitate the fumigation, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service will close the section of Edward Street adjacent to the post office on Saturday and Sunday.
The fumigation process poses no threat to postal items and postal service staff will diligently oversee the operation to guarantee the safety of customers’ items. It is anticipated that the process will conclude over the holiday weekend with full access to the post office restored on Tuesday, 21 May.
The Postal Service thanks all customers for their cooperation and wishes everyone a happy Discovery Day.
