Cuban detainees breakout from Cayman Islands detention centre – 6 still at large

From HM Cayman Islands Prison Service
At approximately 11 pm on Sunday evening, 5th April 2015, eleven Cuban detainees broke through a metal grilled window at the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) and escaped through the fence. Four detainees were recaptured shortly afterwards. An extensive search was conducted
spanning out from the IDC but failed to produce any further recaptures.
On Monday 6th April 2015, one of the remaining Detainees turned himself in to the West Bay Police Station. Her Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service along with other law enforcement agencies is making every effort to locate the remaining six Detainees.

A full investigation is also being conducted into the circumstances surrounding the escape. Any assistance from the public on the whereabouts of any of the Detainees would be greatly appreciated. The public is asked to contact 911 immediately with any information.
The Public is asked to not approach the Detainees directly if spotted but instead, contact the Police. The Public is also reminded that assisting a Detainee is a crime and anyone who is found to aid or abet the Detainees may be prosecuted.
