UPDATE: Cayman – Serious Collision in Savannah

Update (27 June):

The driver of the Honda Accord which was involved in a serious three-vehicle collision late Saturday night, 25 June, remains in hospital in critical but stable condition. The two occupants of the Kia Sorento have been discharged from hospital, while the occupant of the Ford Explorer was discharged earlier today.

Police continue to investigate the collision, and anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any other information is asked to contact the George Town Police Station at 949-222, or the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit at 649-6254.

Initial Release (26 June):

At about 11:50PM last night, 25 June, officers responded to a three-vehicle collision on Shamrock Road, Savannah, involving a Honda Accord, Kia Optima, and an RCIPS Ford Explorer service vehicle.

The driver of the Honda sustained serious injuries, while the two occupants of the Kia sustained what appear to be minor injuries and the occupant of the Ford complained of pain. Emergency services attended the location and all four persons were transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.

The roadway is currently closed while investigations are ongoing. Eastbound traffic on Shamrock Road is being diverted through Spotts Newlands Road, while westbound traffic is being diverted through Hirst Road. The closure is expected to be in effect through mid-morning.
