Cayman Islands water related death – 70 year old tourist – Update man named

The 70 – year-old American tourist who pass away after getting into difficulty while diving off North West Point, West Bay on Thursday 19 March 2015 has been named. He is Stephen Edward Van Buren of Conroe, Texas.
Mr. Van Buren was on a dive when he experienced difficulty in the water, he was transported to the the George Town Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
Police enquires are ongoing.

Around 2:45pm Thursday 19 March 2015, Emergency crews were notified of a diving incident on North West Point, West Bay.
A 70 year old male from Texas ,USA in the company of other divers experienced difficulties while in the water. He was assisted to shore for medical attention and transported to the George Town Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
The visitor arrived in the Cayman Islands on Wednesday 18 March 2015, and was travelling with a son.
This incident is under investigation by officers from RCIPS Joint Marine Unit.
