The Editor Speaks: Do you remember “The Marl Road?”

Colin Wilsonweb2Rumours in the Cayman Islands were never heard “through the grapevine”. Instead they were heard “along the marl road”.

A popular newspaper once had a column devoted to “The Marl Road”. It was read by most because rumours are often a lot more interesting than fact.

Nowadays there is no need for “The Marl Road” as we have Facebook and Twitter to place our gossip.

Over 75% of the marl road gossip was just that. Untrue without an ounce of factual basis.

I get sent Marl Road talk every week as I expect all the media houses do. Sorting out the fact from the fiction is often very time consuming and generally I leave it well alone. I haven’t got the luxury of someone else doing the leg and phone work.

However there was one interesting piece of gossip and because it involves our dear friend Mr. Dart I thought I would share it with you.

It has NOT been confirmed and it has NOT been denied and it has come from persons who are much closer to the DART group than myself.

The Marl Road says that the next hotel DART has announced to be built will not be constructed next door to The Royal Palms on the West Bay Road. And the reason I heard is the most interesting part:

Mrs Dart does not want to be uprooted from her home and has put her foot down firmly. “Not in my backyard is this hotel going!”

And Mr Dart has said “OK my darling. I will build it elsewhere.”

So you can tell everybody you heard this from Colin Wilson

I have not been able to come up with anyone providing me with even a small seed that can be verified so you can take it for what it is worth?

So have I given you anything today that is constructive, positive, ort helpful?

Probably not and therefore I should have refrained from telling you. However, I bet I made you all smile and even if it is not true it makes Mr Dart seem more human somehow. Don’t you agree?

Now I also heard this on The Marl Road………..

STOP! There is a reason why we have two ears and only one mouth. We should listen more than we speak!
