Lady Gaga cancels UK tour due to ‘severe pain,’ pens an apology on Twitter

BY KERRY FLYNN From Mashable

Lady Gaga has cancelled the rest of the Joanne World Tour due to “severe pain,” according to a statement tweeted on Saturday.

“I’m so devastated I don’t know how to describe it. All I know is that if I don’t do this, I am not standing by the words or meaning of my music. My medical team is supporting the decision for me to recover at home,” Gaga’s statement reads.

The 31-year-old singer has been public about living with fibromyalgia, a chronic musculoskeletal disease that can cause these episodes of severe pain. She also had postponed the European leg of her tour last year due to health concerns, and she spoke about these health issues during her Netflix documentary, “Gaga: Five Foot Two.”

Gaga’s statement continued, “I love this show more than anything, and I love you, but this is beyond my control. London, Manchester, Zurich, Koln, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Paris, Berlin. And Rio. I promise I will be back in your city, but for now, I need to put myself and my well-being first. I love you, forever.”

The change comes after an incredible performance at the Grammys of her songs “Joanne” and “Million Reasons.”

But Gaga’s current state caused her and her team to cancel the upcoming 10 tour dates. An accompanying statement from Gaga’s management reads the “severe pain has materially impacted her ability to perform live. … She is in the care of expert medical professionals who are working closely with her so she can continue to perform for her fans for years to come.”

Fans are able to apply for a refund from Live Nation starting Feb. 6.
