Ian specialises in insolvency, corporate and commercial litigation, cross-border asset-tracing and recovery and, in addition, has extensive experience in the area of professional negligence, with a focus on medical negligence and personal injury litigation.

Educated in Canada, Ian was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2003 and subsequently practiced as a Barrister and Solicitor with the Toronto law firm of Zarek Taylor Grossman Hanrahan LLP. He was called to the Bar of the Cayman Islands in 2009, joining the litigation team at Bodden & Bodden where he provided comprehensive legal advice to clients on complex litigation and insolvency matters.

He joined HSM Chambers in March 2013, as a Senior Associate and has since then continued to advise and act for local and international clients in complex civil, commercial and corporate matters as a member of HSM Chambers’ litigation team including legal advice to the Joint Official Liquidators of eight Cayman Islands companies on their winding up and their defense of a US$9.2 Billion corporate fraud claim. Ian is married with four children and is a Board Member and coach of the Cayman Islands Youth Roller Hockey Club and the Vice President of the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association, the recognized Governing Body of aquatic sports in the Cayman Islands.
