Bermuda finish top with win over Cayman

Bermuda won the ICC World Twenty20 Sub Regional Qualifier after beating Cayman Islands by four wickets in an exciting contest that went down to the wire at the Belgrano Ground in Buenos Aires today.

Bermuda restricted Caymans to 134 for seven with Janeiro Tucker and Cejay Outerbridge claiming two wickets each.

Ramon Sealy, the captain, led the Caymans batting with an ubeaten 26.

Bermuda then replied with 136 for six, reaching their target with a ball to spare with Steven Bremar (26) and Charles Trott sharing in a match-winning partnership of 18 runs.

Bremar, batting at No 6, ended the game in a flurry with a boundary and back-to-back sixes off of seam bowler Conroy Wright in the final over.

Kamau Leverock was Bermuda’s top batsman with 31 while wicketkeeper Okera Bascome added 20 at the top of the order and Tucker 18.

Wright was one of two Cayman bowlers taking two wickets.

Bermuda took to the field in their second ICC Americas Regional Twenty20 match against Cayman Island.

Cayman Island batted first and scored 165/5 in their allotted 20 overs. C Hauptsfliech was their top scorer with 28 runs, Kamau Leverock was Bermuda’s most economical bowler with figures of 4.0-0-14-1

In reply, Bermuda were bowled out for 103, falling 62 runs short of their target. Kamau Leverock and Janeiro Tucker were the top scorers both scoring 22, Tucker faced 19 balls hitting 2 fours and 1 six, while Leverock faced 18 balls hitting 3 four.
