Cayman police update on third stolen Honda Civic

From RCIPS

Update: Third Stolen Honda Civic Recovered In West Bay

On Thursday, 1 March, Community Officers in West Bay conducted further searches of the area, off Dill Lane in West Bay, where two stolen Honda Civics were found on Wednesday, 28 February. During the search, another vehicle which had been reported stolen on 14 May, 2017, was recovered. This vehicle is a silver 2000 Honda Civic, registration #158 417.  Officers discovered this and the other vehicles after receiving information from members of the community.

“We are extremely grateful to members of the public for bringing this area to our attention. The recovery of these vehicles shows what good results can be achieved through cooperation between the community and police,” said Superintendent Robbie Graham. “We expect this cooperation will continue to grow further as we strengthen our relationship with the public through our community policing program.”

All three Honda Civics which were recovered in the area were found to have been completely stripped of parts.

“The condition these vehicles have been found in is further evidence that certain models of vehicle are being targeted and stolen specifically for their parts,” said Commissioner of Police, Derek Byrne.

Due to the inaccessibility and large size of the area in which the vehicles were found, officers will be conducting further searches of the entire area over the coming days, as investigations continue.
