Cayman Islands voter registration ended midnight Monday (16)

George Town voter Mr. James Talmage Wood, was the last to check his voter details in the existing Electors List on a long day of registration that started 8.30 am and ended 12 midnight for elections officers both on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.

Voter registration that ended midnight Monday, 16 January 2017 has yielded better numbers of estimated voters than previously anticipated by elections officials.

Supervisor of Elections, Mr. Wesley Howell estimates that the final list will have over 21,000 voters, up from his earlier estimates of 20,500. Over 300 new voter registration applications were received on the last day, he said.

Following processing of all the applications, the Elections Office will issue the revised list of voters on 31 January, after which the list will be formalized and the final list issued on 1 April 2017. Following that, voter ID cards will be issued.
