New partner Kirsten Lapham joins Ogier’s expanding funds and regulatory practice in Cayman

Kirsten Lapham
Financial services and asset management regulation specialist Kirsten Lapham has joined Ogier as a partner in its fast-growing Regulatory and Investment Funds practice in the Cayman Islands.
Kirsten’s appointment follows the addition of three new funds partners to the Cayman team earlier this year, enhancing Ogier’s reputation as a dominant player in the Cayman funds and regulatory space.
Previously a partner in Proskauer Rose LLP’s UK investment funds and financial services team, Kirsten brings heavyweight international experience. An expert in regulatory matters relating to fund formation and distribution, she advises fund sponsors, financial institutions and large private credit and private equity managers.
Having led Proskauer’s advisory offering on ESG matters, Kirsten specialises in sustainable finance regulation, particularly in the UK and EU, and advises on the complex regulatory developments facing cross-border asset managers today.
Kirsten will work closely with the Cayman Regulatory team, led by partner Martin Byers with managing associate Megan Mcluskie, and Ogier’s Global Head of Regulatory, Rachel Cropper-Mawer. Kirsten will also be working alongside Ogier’s dedicated Cayman funds team, which is one of the largest and most established in the jurisdiction.
Rachel said: “The regulatory playbook keeps getting bigger and matters concerning regulatory, investigations and enforcement are a priority for the financial services sector. Kirsten understands the regulatory challenges faced by market participants and her appointment strengthens our ability to offer clients the insight and practical support they need to stay ahead.
“Regulation is increasingly complex, which is why we take a multi-disciplinary approach, bringing together our legal, regulatory consultancy and corporate administration teams to provide comprehensive, joined-up solutions across the full spectrum of regulatory matters.”
Ogier’s Global Head of Investment Funds, Joanne Huckle, added: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Kirsten to our growing Regulatory, Investigations and Enforcement team. She brings with her both experience and expertise that is valuable to the investment fund advice we provide to clients, as well as extensive knowledge of the financial services industry.”
Ogier’s full-service Investment Funds team is described by Legal 500 as “one of the strongest in the Cayman Islands”. Led by an established team of 27 partners, Ogier in the Cayman Islands is renowned for providing top-tier clients with expert advice, commercial insight and tailored solutions. Its rapid growth is reflective of the firm’s wider success across its locations, which includes Dubai, the British Virgin Islands, Guernsey, Jersey, Ireland, London, Luxembourg and Hong Kong.
The firm now has more than 1,200 people across its legal, corporate and fiduciary and consulting divisions, including more than 110 legal partners.
