| Hi Friends! There are some important changes happening in the air conditioning world that could affect your home and your wallet over the next few years. |
What’s actually changing? Manufacturers are moving to new refrigerants and new equipment designs. As that happens:R-410A equipment options will shrink (especially outdoor condenser units).Over time, replacement parts may become more limited and expensive.Mixing old and new technologies usually won’t be compatible. |

The short version:
| The refrigerant used in most modern systems – R-410A – is being phased down as the industry transitions to new, lower-emission refrigerants. New equipment using R-410A will gradually become harder to find, and over time parts and compatible units will follow. We’re coming up on the end of 2025, which is a key milestone in that transition because AC units which are compatible with 410A refridgerant will become illegal to install in 2026 (in the U.S. & Canada). Now is a smart time to understand what you have in your home and make a plan, instead of being forced into a rushed decision when something breaks. |
Time to Panic? No! You do not need to panic, and you don’t have to replace working equipment just because of this change. But if you had a partial replacement recently, now is a vital time to understand your system’s age, condition, and configuration to help you make smart choices. |
