| This conversation will pull back the curtain on how trafficking and exploitation are hiding in plain sight in California’s labor system—and what the state can do about it. You’ll hear from two former US TIP Ambassadors, part of a rare and united cohort of all living former TIP Ambassadors, who have come together to support California Assembly Bill 1362. Hear exclusive insights from leaders who’ve worked at the highest levels of government to stop forced labor and protect vulnerable workers: Ambassador Luis C.deBaca is a leading expert on modern slavery, criminal justice, and civil rights. He also co-authored the US Trafficking Victims Protection Act, helped negotiate the UN’s anti-trafficking protocol and advanced the “3P” approach—prevention, protection, and prosecution—at home and abroad. Ambassador John Cotton Richmond is a leading voice in the global fight against human trafficking. He has led US foreign policy on modern slavery and, as a former federal prosecutor, prosecuted numerous victim-centered labor and sex trafficking cases and pioneered justice work in India with the International Justice Mission. |
