Cayman: Water-Related Death in West Bay

At about 3:40PM on Friday, 6 March, officers responded to a report of a person in distress on the shore of Cemetery Beach in West Bay. It was reported that a man had been swimming in the waters there when he appeared to experience difficulties. His companions swam out to render assistance, and helped him back to shore, where he became unresponsive.
The Cayman Islands Fire Service attended the location initially, and fire officers conducted CPR until the arrival of EMS. The man remained unresponsive and was transported to the Anthony S. Eden hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The deceased is a visitor, age 56, from Canada. The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
