Cayman: Water-Related Death in George Town

Shortly after 12:00PM yesterday, 8 August, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched police and other emergency services to a report of a person in distress in the waters off North Church Street, south of the intersection with Eastern Avenue. A man had gone snorkeling when his companions on shore lost sight of him. He was subsequently found, unresponsive, in the water nearby. He was brought to shore and Emergency Services attended the location. He was transported to hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The man, age 71, is a visitor from the United States.
The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
