Cayman: Launch of Online Booking for Driver’s Written Examinations

George Town, Grand Cayman – 3 December 2025 – The Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure (PLAHI), together with the Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing (DVDL), announces the launch of online booking for driver’s written examinations, going live Monday, 8 December 2025. Residents will be able to choose a preferred date and time and receive instant confirmation—reducing queues and making it easier to plan around work, school, and family commitments.

“This is a practical step that saves people time and improves service quality. By moving written test bookings online, we’re reducing queues, giving residents more choice over appointment times, and building a more responsive licensing system. It’s a small change with a big impact for customers and for staff.”
— Hon. Johany “Jay” Ebanks, Minister for Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure

Visit dvdl.gov.ky, select Online Services, then Book Theory Exam. On the day of the test, candidates must attend in person at their selected DVDL location with the required identification and documentation.

The online booking service currently applies to written examinations only. In-person road tests continue to be scheduled through existing channels. Subject to final system upgrades, online booking for road tests is targeted for 2026.

The online system is part of PLAHI’s modernisation programme to improve customer experience, shorten wait times, and streamline key licensing steps—delivering faster, simpler, and more reliable services.

Guidance on how to book, what to bring, and test-day requirements is available at dvdl.gov.ky. Residents who need assistance can contact their nearest DVDL office.
