Cayman: Justin Hastings Receives Sponsor Exemption into 2025 Butterfield Bermuda Championship

Justin Hastings
HAMILTON, Bermuda (July 11, 2025) — The Butterfield Bermuda Championship is proud to announce that Justin Hastings, one of the world’s leading amateur golfers, has received a sponsor exemption into the 2025 tournament, taking place November 13 – 16 at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda.
At just 22 years old, Hastings has already made history on multiple fronts. He became the youngest player ever to win the Cayman Islands Men’s National Championship at age 14 and has since represented the Cayman Islands in major international competitions, including the Latin America Amateur Championship and the World Amateur Team Championships.
More recently Hastings was crowned Low Amateur at the 2025 U.S. Open Championship at Oakmont, making him the first Caymanian golfer to both compete and make the cut in a U.S. Open.
“We are thrilled to welcome Justin Hastings to the 2025 Butterfield Bermuda Championship,” said Danielle Carrera, Tournament Director. “Justin has shown incredible poise and talent in his young career, and we are excited to give him this opportunity to compete on one of golf’s biggest stages. He’s not only a great representative of the future of the game, but also a proud ambassador for Caribbean golf.”
“We are delighted to offer our sponsor exemption to such a talented young golfer from the Cayman Islands. It is always exciting to support emerging athletes with lots of potential, but especially so when they are from one of the communities Butterfield calls home. We all look forward to welcoming Justin to the tournament and to watching him compete in Bermuda,” said Mike McWatt, Managing Director of Butterfield in the Cayman Islands. Having just finished competing at the collegiate level for San Diego State University, Hastings has made headlines with his consistent performances, maturity beyond his years. His inclusion in this year’s field continues the Championship’s commitment to supporting emerging players from across the Caribbean and Atlantic region and marks another step in his journey toward professional success.
I am extremely grateful to receive an exemption into The Butterfield Bermuda Championship,” said Justin Hastings. “It’s another great opportunity to showcase my game at golf’s highest level. I’d like to thank The Butterfield Group for thinking of me, as I know these exemptions are hard to come by. This tournament means a little bit more to me, being from a small island in the Caribbean. I am familiar with (and love) the style of golf and have paid close attention to this tournament ever since its inception in 2019!
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship, now in its 7th year, is one of the premier sporting events in Bermuda and a proud stop on the PGA TOUR. With sweeping ocean views, challenging play, and a strong focus on community engagement, the tournament continues to draw international attention and support.
