Cayman Islands governor hosts gala for Caribbean marine institution
The conservation and scientific work of the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) was celebrated at a gala reception hosted by Governor Helen Kilpatrick last night (Wednesday, 29 April 2015).

While CCMI was established in 1998, the occasion marked the 10th anniversary of the Little Cayman Research Centre. Attendees included Deputy Governor Franz Manderson, CCMI founder and President Dr Carrie Manfrino, as well as CCMI board members, staff, trustees and supporters.
Her Excellency applauded the “inspirational” efforts of all involved. Having visited the Little Cayman facility, she noted that “the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff really shone through”.
The CCMI’s mission is to “conduct and facilitate research, education, outreach and conservation programmes that will sustain marine diversity for future generations.”
