Cayman: DEH Operations for the 2025 Holiday Season

Grand Cayman, December 17, 2025
 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) advises members of the public that there will be no garbage collection services on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025, and the landfills will be closed.

Collections will resume and landfills will reopen until 1:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2025 (Boxing Day). However, the George Town landfill drop-off facility at the gate will remain accessible to the public and small vehicles 24 hours per day.

The public is also advised that the department’s offices and all landfills will operate until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Additionally, the George Town landfill will open at 5:00 AM on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.

Meanwhile, the reception of derelict vehicles and bulk loads of scrap metal will be temporarily suspended from December 25 and 26, 2025, and again on January 1, 2026.

“As we all enjoy the holidays, DEH’s Management and staff take this opportunity to thank the public for its continued support and cooperation throughout the year and wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season,” said DEH Director Mr. Richard Simms.
