Cayman ‘Cupcake Wars’

All Winners in Cayman Islands “Cupcake Wars”
“Cupcake Angels” have been declared winners of the 2015 Cupcake War III competition. Vitoria Buttrum and Leslie Anderson took the top spot last Saturday, 30 May, during the Child Month finale event held at the Ritz Carlton resort. Their “Cupcake Angels” team received the Wendy Quinland Memorial Trophy from her husband Peter Quinland, their children and other relatives.

Judges announced the rankings after hours of preparations, baking and tastings. In second place was “Team Alex”, made up of Alexandra Nairne, Keilli Powell, Annissa Sheow-Clarke and Victoria Nairne.
The Cayman Brac team “Cupcake Noveau” placed third. Travel to Grand Cayman by Alex Flores, Dimitri Christian and Wezleyann Pryce was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club and the Ministry of District Administration.

Head Judge was the Ritz Carlton’s Executive Pastry Chef Melissa Logan, who compared tastes and presentation alongside fellow judges Daniella McGowan (President-Elect of Kiwanis Club) and Georganne Rankine (the Youth Services Unit’s culinary consultant).

Also competing were “Cupcake Warriors” – Tya Bovell, Nickola O’Sullivan, Ashley Thompson and Britiny McLaughlin; and “Team Brittney” – Brittney Bodden, D’Angelo Roper, Kiahna Tibbetts and Tamia McLean.
This year’s sweet challenge paid tribute to Children and Family Services’ former Community Development Officer, the late Wendy Quinland, who co-founded the “Cupcake Wars” as a part of the annual Child Month observance.
