Cayman Brac Boil Water Notice Lifted

The boil water notice for Cayman Brac has been lifted following the results of comprehensive analyses, which confirm that there are no bacteriological issues with the water.

While initial screening indicated that the water did not pose a health risk if consumed, in the interest of public health, the Authority maintained the boil water notice. The comprehensive analysis of the results affirms the initial test results and gives reassurance to lift the boil water notice.

While the boil water notice has been lifted, the Authority is still conducting work to normalise salinity levels. Flushing pipelines in side roads will continue, as well as sampling, until the Authority can ensure our strict water quality standards for salinity are met.

Updates on the progress of the work will be provided via our website www.waterauthority.ky.

Water Authority-Cayman would like to provide an update on the Boil Water Notice in Cayman Brac.

A crew has been working through the night, systematically flushing the main north-east pipeline and conducting tests on salinity and other parameters. Simultaneously, another crew has been performing work and tests at the water production plant to bring salinity levels back in line with the Authority’s strict water quality standards.

Thus far, the salinity levels at the production plant have normalised. In addition, the salinity levels along the north-east pipeline up to the museum are stabilising. Flushing work will continue along the north-east pipeline, then move to the south side, then the north-west pipeline, and then to side roads. As our crew is on the road flushing the pipelines, we ask that the motoring public drive with caution to ensure their safety and that of our crew.

Tests conducted so far indicate that, if consumed, the water would not be harmful to your health. However, out of an abundance of caution, the boil water notice remains in effect, as we work to ensure the salt level meets our water quality standards.

To comply with the notice, customers should boil their water before consuming it, including drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing their teeth.

Instructions:

  1. Boil water vigorously for at least 10 minutes
  2. Let the water cool before consuming

The Authority appreciates the public’s patience and understanding. Further updates will be provided via our website www.waterauthority.ky.

Boil Water Notice for Cayman Brac

Water Authority-Cayman would like to inform customers in Cayman Brac that a Boil Water Notice is in immediate effect until further notice. This notice applies to all piped water customers and all trucked water customers who received a water delivery (Saturday, 13 December).

To comply with the notice, customers should boil their water before consuming it, including drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing their teeth.

Instructions:

  1. Boil water vigorously for at least 10 minutes
  2. Let the water cool before consuming

This notice has been put into effect due to a failure at the water production plant, and salinity has compromised the water quality. The Water Authority is working to rectify this issue as soon as possible. Over the next 24 hours, customers may experience low pressure as we flush pipelines. The Authority will provide updates via our website www.waterauthority.ky.
