Cayman: Academy Sports Club Welcomes Zachary Scott as New Coach

Zachary Scott starts his new job as fulltime coach at Academy

Grand Cayman, 21 July 2025 – Zachary, a familiar face within the Academy community, has been part of the club since its inception. His journey from a dedicated player to a national team representative and now a coach marks a historic milestone for the Academy as it celebrates the development of its first homegrown coach.

Having played at a high level in the U.K., Zachary combines his playing expertise with a strong academic foundation, having recently earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. Additionally, Zachary holds an FA Level 1 coaching certificate and is preparing to pursue the next stage of his coaching qualifications.

Zachary will be taking on leadership responsibilities for multiple youth teams. His experience as a respected national team player positions him as a role model for the next generation of players.

“I want to take all of my experiences and inspire the next generation of Caymanian footballers to reach new levels and achieve their dreams,” Scott said.

“This is a proud moment for Academy Sports Club,” said Paul Byles, the club’s Head of Youth Development. “Zachary’s journey epitomises the Club’s mission to nurture talent both on and off the pitch. Having someone who has grown within the Academy now stepping into a leadership role is a testament to our programme’s success. Zachary’s passion, dedication, and understanding of our ethos make him an ideal fit to inspire and develop our youth players.”

Byles said that when Academy’s Technical Director Virgil Seymour started the youth programme, Zachary was one of the original players.

Zachary’s hiring demonstrates the Club’s commitment to delivering the highest standards of coaching and fostering an environment where young players can thrive both athletically and personally.
