Expanded portfolio for CIBC’s St Hill

CIBC FirstCaribbean International bank has expanded its wealth management services following the resignation of Mark Young, managing director of Wealth Management, effective February 2014. In a newspaper advertisement the bank said: “The board of CIBC FirstCaribbean has therefore approved the re-allocation of responsibility for our wealth management business.” Mark St Hill, the bank’s managing director of retail and business banking, will now have an expanded portfolio to include international banking.

He is now responsible for the bank’s regional international banking portfolio and will carry the title managing director, retail business and international banking. St Hill previously served as managing director of CIBC First Caribbean’s Barbados operating company.

Prior to that, he was director, international banking with responsibility for the leadership and development of the international banking (personal and corporate) offering across the bank’s wealth management centres in the Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman, Curacao and Turks and Caicos islands. St Hill has more than 20 years experience in the banking sector and held senior management positions in several countries in the Caribbean such as Grenada, British Virgin Islands and Barbados.

He is a graduate of the FirstCaribbean executive leadership programme at the Wharton School of Business in the United States and a fellow of the British Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. Dan Wright who formely held the position of director, Private Wealth Management, will take up the position of managing director, Private Wealth Management and have additional regional responsibilities for CIBC Trust Company (Bahamas) Ltd and CIBC bank and Trust Company (Cayman) Ltd.

The bank said: “Mr Wright worked as senior vice-President and head, International Wealth Management for Bank of Nova Scotia, Toronto, with specific responsibility for their private banking business in the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia. “He was also chair of the BNS Trust Company in the Bahamas and director of a number of Caribbean-based businesses in the Cayman islands and Jamaica.”
