UPDATE: Cuban escapee who was at large returned

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands – A Cuban national who escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre near Fairbanks Prison shortly before noon Monday is back in custody after turning himself in Monday night.

Yasmani Ampudia Remon, 24, had last seen around 11:45 a.m. Monday wearing black jeans and a black shirt.

Remon had arrived on Grand Cayman on 31 December, 2013, off of East End in a group of 10 migrants.

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands – The Department of Immigration is seeking a 24-year-old Cuban national who escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre near Fairbanks Prison shortly before noon today.

Yasmani Ampudia Remon was last seen around 11:45 a.m. wearing black jeans and a black shirt. He is five-feet, six-inches tall.

The Department is seeking any information that could lead to the subject being located and apprehended.

It is believed that Remon is hold up in the immediate vicinity of the Detention Centre. The parameter of the area has been reinforced and the K9 United has been contacted for possible assistance.
