Man charged with Sprint robbery remanded and committed to Grand Court

525c933ef3ab0.preview-300The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service has reported today (3) that a man has been charged and has appeared in court in connection with the Sprint robbery which took place outside Britcay House on 4 October, 2012.

The 27–year-old was arrested on Friday, 29 November, and was subsequently charged on Saturday with robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

He appeared in court on Monday (2) morning and was remanded to HMP Northward until Friday 13 December 2013, when he will appear in the Grand Court.

It was reported originally that an armed man robbed a Sprint courier in the car park around 1:10pm at the location on Eastern Avenue, George Town taking between CI$5,000 and $10,000 plus US$ (less than 1,000) and CI$ and US$ cheques.

The lone robber was seen fleeing the crime scene in a white Mitsubishi car after threatening the courier.

The vehicle bearing the licence plate # 135064, believed to have been used during the offence, was later found by the RCIPS along with some of the stolen goods.
