Cayman Islands Governor designate arrives
Governor-designate Helen Kilpatrick arrived in the Cayman Islands on Friday, 6 September 2013.
Acting Governor, the Hon. Franz Manderson, MBE, JP; Premier, the Hon. Alden McLaughlin, MBE, JP and Commissioner of Police David Baines met Mrs. Kilpatrick as she arrived from the United Kingdom, via a Cayman Airways flight from Miami.
Boy Scout Juan Pablo Valerio II gave her a special basket representing the three Islands, following which the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Guard of Honour saluted the Governor-designate.
She was then greeted by a line-up of Government ministers and senior officials, as well as staff of her new office.
Mrs. Kilpatrick is being sworn in this afternoon as the 12th Governor of this British Overseas Territory, which has been under the Crown since the Treaty of Madrid in 1670.
