AP Award-winning photography
Over the course of its history, the Associated Press has been committed to the highest standards of journalism, and its photographers have shown astonishing courage and resourcefulness in the field. This year, AP’s wide-ranging and diverse photography has won more awards than any other news organization.
Here is a look at some of the awards and honors that AP won this year:
AP was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography for the gripping images of the Syrian civil war taken by photojournalists Rodrigo Abd, Manu Brabo, Narciso Contreras, Khalil Hamra and Muhammed Muheisen.
AP has won 8 prizes at the prestigious World Press Photo Contest, including two 1st prizes and two second prizes.
AP won 17 prizes at the POYi Awards, including eight 1st prizes and six awards of excellence
AP Chief Asia photographer David Guttenfelder was awarded the ICP Infinity Award for his ground-breaking work inside North Korea
AP won two out of four prizes at the Overseas Press Club photo contest, plus a judges’ citation
