Ministry of Education Staff donate calculators to CIFEC

Ministry of Education staff truly believes that charity begins at home and this was proved by their recent donation to the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) students. Ministry staff volunteered to donate the funds to purchase 30 calculators. The set will be maintained by the centre, to support students in need who are sitting their CXC Mathematics exam. Minister of Education Hon. Rolston Anglin, JP and Chief Officer Mrs. Mary Rodrigues, along with approximately 18 Ministry staff members took part in this donation.

Ministry of Education Chief Policy Advisor (Education Policy & Planning Unit) Dr. Jo Wood delivered the calculators to the students and is accompanied by Mr. Robin Kyne, Director of CIFEC and Mrs. Andrea Wray-Miller one of the math teachers in the picture above.

CIFEC provides a positive approach to learning and developing learners as fully rounded citizens able to make a contribution to the community around the world. It focuses on education of the whole person which includes personal, social and community development. Second chances for students to re-take and improve grades in key subjects, such as mathematics and English, is an important priority for CIFEC as well as offering an exciting range of vocational and technical courses.
