Just after 9:10 pm onSat. 18th Oct. police and other emergency services were dispatched to a report of a motor collision involving a pedestrian which occurred on the West Bay Road, George Town.

It appears that a man believed to be a visitor to the Island, was crossing the road in the vicinity of Piper Way when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

the man was assisted by an off duty senior police officer until the arrival of the Emergency Medical Services. He was then transported by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.

The female driver of the vehicle involved in the collision appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency following the collision and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.

As a result of the fatal collision, the roadway was closed to facilitate the on scene investigation.
