Cayman – UPDATE: Missing vessel located, 26 November

From RCIPS

Update (26 November):

Shortly before 10:00PM last night, 25 November, the vessel that had been reported to be in distress earlier that morning was located, having run aground on the reef near Hungry Iguana, Little Cayman. A Cayman Islands Fire Service vessel with CIFS and RCIPS officers attended the location, and was met by medical personnel. The vessel was recovered and the persons aboard were found to be in good health.

The RCIPS & CICG express thanks to our partner agencies and the private citizens who participated in the search, including the radio operator in Cayman Brac who assisted in establishing communications with vessels traversing the area earlier in the day, as well as to the persons in Little Cayman who assisted in providing overnight accommodation for the persons on the vessel.

Initial Release (25 November):

This morning, 25 November at 9:10AM, Emergency Services received a report of a vessel in distress southwest of Little Cayman. Search and rescue efforts commenced, led by the RCIPS including the Air Operations Unit, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG), and the Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS), with support from a radio operator on Cayman Brac and private citizens from Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

As of 4:50PM this afternoon, there has been no sighting of the missing vessel, and search efforts remain ongoing.
